Oticon: Hearing Aids Built Around the Brain
Oticon was founded in Denmark in 1904 by Hans Demant, whose wife had hearing loss, and is part of the Demant group. More than a century later it is still built on the same idea: helping people with hearing loss stay connected to the people around them.
Oticon’s approach is called BrainHearing. Rather than simply making sounds louder, Oticon hearing aids aim to give your brain the full sound scene it needs to make sense of the world, so listening takes less effort. Its newest range, Oticon Reveal, launched in August 2026.
Oticon hearing aids are designed to help you:
- Hear the person in front of you and still be aware of what’s around you
- Spend less effort listening, so you’re less tired at the end of the day
- Connect to iPhone, Android and Auracast audio
- Choose from children’s, power and tiny in-the-ear options
Customisable Fit
Available in various styles and performance levels to suit individual needs.
Device Connectivity
Seamlessly connects with phones, TVs, and accessories for enhanced audio experiences.
Oticon Companion App
Comprehensive app for controlling and personalizing your hearing aids.
BrainHearing™ Technology
Supports your brain by delivering optimal sound information.
The Latest: Oticon Reveal
Oticon announced Reveal in August 2026 as its new flagship, replacing Oticon Intent at the top of the range. It is available in Australia.
What’s new
- Two AI systems working at once. Oticon says Reveal is its third generation of AI sound processing. Speech AI picks out and supports nearby speech, while Context AI keeps the surrounding sounds balanced, so you don’t lose awareness of your environment.
- Stronger brain response. Oticon reports a 60% stronger brain response to speech compared with Oticon Intent, based on its own research.
- 4D Sensor. In the top technology levels, motion sensors help the hearing aid work out whether you’re moving, turning your head or focused on one person, and adjust to suit.
- Better feedback control. Oticon says its Reveal Optimizer prevents whistling faster and allows more precise fitting.
- Rechargeable and connected. The rechargeable miniRITE R lasts up to a full day, with a 15-minute top-up giving about 4 hours. It supports Bluetooth LE Audio, Auracast, iPhone and Android.
- CROS option. Reveal works with a CROS transmitter for people with no usable hearing in one ear.
The Oticon Range
- Oticon Reveal: the 2026 flagship, in four technology levels.
- Oticon Intent: the previous flagship, with 4D sensors, still an excellent option.
- Oticon Zeal: a tiny rechargeable in-the-ear hearing aid that can be fitted on the same day, with no ear impression needed.
- Oticon Real: an earlier premium generation, often available at a lower price.
- Oticon Own: custom hearing aids made from an impression of your ear, including invisible-in-canal styles.
- Oticon Xceed: super power and ultra power hearing aids for severe to profound hearing loss.
- Oticon Play: hearing aids designed for children and teenagers, which work with the EduMic classroom microphone.
What Oticon Does Best
- BrainHearing. A consistent focus, since 2014, on supporting how the brain processes sound rather than just amplifying it.
- Natural, open sound. Oticon is known for keeping you aware of everything around you, not just the person in front of you.
- Range. Children’s, power, custom and same-day in-the-ear options from one brand.
Who Oticon Suits
- Adults who find group conversations tiring.
- People who want to stay aware of their surroundings, not shut them out.
- Children and teenagers.
- People with severe to profound hearing loss.
- People who want a discreet in-the-ear hearing aid fitted on the day.
Apps, Remote Care and Tinnitus Support
- Oticon Companion app: control volume and programs, adjust streaming sound, join Auracast broadcasts, check battery and find lost hearing aids.
- Remote care: your audiologist can fine-tune your hearing aids remotely and see you by video through the app.
- Tinnitus: Tinnitus SoundSupport offers relief sounds, including ocean-like sounds, set up by your audiologist.
Why Get Your Oticon Hearing Aids Fitted at NeuroAudiology
A hearing aid is only as good as the person fitting it. The same device can sound completely different depending on how it’s programmed, so the fitting matters as much as the brand.
- We test first. A full diagnostic hearing assessment by an audiologist comes before any recommendation. Medicare rebates may apply.
- We fit several leading brands. That means we recommend what suits your hearing, lifestyle and budget, not one manufacturer’s catalogue.
- Programmed to your results. Your hearing aids are set up from your own hearing test, then fine-tuned at follow-up visits as your brain adjusts.
- Government subsidised options. Eligible pensioners and DVA card holders can access subsidised hearing aids through the Hearing Services Program. We check your eligibility and handle the paperwork.
- Ongoing care. Follow-up appointments, fine-tuning, cleaning and remote adjustments are part of the service, at five clinics across Sydney.
Oticon Hearing Aids: Frequently Asked Questions
What is the newest Oticon hearing aid?
Oticon Reveal, announced in August 2026, is Oticon’s newest flagship. It replaces Oticon Intent at the top of the range.
What is BrainHearing?
BrainHearing is Oticon’s approach of giving the brain access to the full sound environment, with speech supported, so it can do its job of making sense of sound with less effort.
Does Oticon make hearing aids for children?
Yes. Oticon Play is designed for children and teenagers, with rechargeable options and a classroom microphone called EduMic.
Can I get an Oticon hearing aid fitted on the same day?
Oticon Zeal is a small rechargeable in-the-ear hearing aid that doesn’t need a custom impression, so it can often be fitted at the same appointment.
Can I get Oticon hearing aids through the Hearing Services Program?
If you’re an eligible pensioner or DVA card holder, you may be able to get fully subsidised hearing aids, or top up to a higher technology level. Availability of specific Oticon models under the program varies, so we’ll show you exactly what’s covered after your hearing test.
How long do Oticon hearing aids last?
Most modern hearing aids last around five years with good care. Regular cleaning, wax guard changes and check-ups at the clinic help them last longer and keep working properly.
Do I need a hearing test before buying hearing aids?
Yes. A full hearing assessment tells us the type and degree of your hearing loss and whether anything else is going on, such as wax or a middle ear problem. It is the only way to choose and program a hearing aid properly.
Can I try hearing aids before committing?
Ask us about a trial. Wearing a hearing aid in your own daily life is the best way to know if it is right for you.
